It is based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, which was originally created by Dutch television producer John de Mol as part of The Voice franchise. The show is hosted by Toni Gonzaga and by Luis Manzano. They are accompanied by Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga who serves as the show’s V-Reporters or the social media and backstage correspondents. Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo Mañalac, Lea Salonga, and apl.de.ap serve as the four coaches and the judging panel of the show. The show aired a primer, called Mic Test: The Voice of the Philippines Primer, on June 9, 2013, that aided the viewers to be familiarized with the show’s mechanics. One week after airing the primer, the first season premiered on June 15, 2013. It ended on September 29, 2013 with Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea proclaimed as the winner of the first season. A second season was announced by late 2013 and premiered on October 26, 2014. Salonga, Geronimo, Mañalac, and apl.de.ap returned to the show as coaches. T. Gonzaga also returned to host the show; she was also joined by The Voice Kids host, Luis Manzano. Domingo and A. Gonzaga also returned to reprise their roles as the show’s V-reporters.
